Mackenzie Foy As Renesmee In “Breaking Dawn” Film?

Hey Twilighters!

Nine-year old Mackenzie Foy might be getting the role of Renesmee in the “Breaking Dawn” film.

We still don’t really know how screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg and director Bill Condon will handle the fairly traumatizing birth scene that caps the fourth Twilight filmBreaking Dawn, and exactly how much CGI will be required to create a convincing half-human half-vampire baby. But when that baby grows up, we know she’ll look like 9-year-old Mackenzie Foy– at least until she ages rapidly and falls in love with Taylor Lautner.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Foy is “inches away” from snagging the role of Renesmee, Edward and Bella’s baby who becomes the focal point of one last battle between the Volturi and the Cullens. Because Renesmee is half-vampire and half-human she ages rapidly, from newborn to a 17-year-old over the course of the book, and EW speculates they might use some Benjamin Button-style CGI magic to allow Foy to play the character throughout the film. But, again, it’s already creepy enough that Taylor Lautner’s Jacob “Imprints” on the newborn, immediately falling in love with her. Are we going to be able to handle seeing a 9-year-old child making out with Taylor Lautner just half an hour later into the movie?

Of course, these are logic questions, and logic never seems to play much of a role in the Twilight movies, no matter how much the fans try to insist the movies are perfectly normal. With the two installments of Breaking Dawn set to start filming shortly, maybe we’ll at least get our answers soon so we can start preparing ourselves for the inevitable creepiness.

It’s a big day for Twihards. First Maggie Grace signs on to play Irina. Now has learned that little 9-year old Mackenzie Foy is inches away from signing on to play Renesmee, Edward and Bella’s vampire/human love child that’s a central role in the final installment of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.

It’s not yet clear how the diminutive actress, who’s appeared in one episode each of television shows FlashForward and ‘Til Death, will portray the character who ages a full 17 years in only seven. Sources have suggested that director Bill Condon will employ similar digital effects to those used by David Fincher in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, where Foy’s face would be digitally transferred onto the face of a younger child. It’s also probable that the studio will hire a younger child in some capacity, too.

Summit Entertainment is remaining mum on the issue. But to see Foy’s angelic face, which could very well be the offspring of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, check out her website.

  1. Listen you guys, Mackenzie won’t make out with Taylor. Isn’t that close to illegal? And in going with the story, Bella and Edward would shoot Jake in the face if he tried to before she was physically old enough for him. If there’s gonna be any kissing, it would be between seventeen year old Renesmee and Taylor.
